Job Purpose:

Join the culinary team at Antoine Café and play a pivotal role in our kitchen operations. As a Kitchen Crew member, you will assist in food preparation, maintain high standards of hygiene and safety, and ensure that our service is prompt and efficient. Your contributions are crucial in delivering an exceptional dining experience for our guests by supporting quality, efficiency, and teamwork within the kitchen.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing ingredients by cutting, chopping, peeling, and marinating.
  • Prepare basic food items as guided by chefs.
  • Adhere to portioning and recipe guidelines to ensure consistency.
  • Collaborate with chefs in cooking, grilling, frying, and plating.
  • Monitor food quality and promptly communicate any issues to chefs.
  • Ensure proper storage of ingredients and manage leftovers effectively.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen space.
  • Wash and sanitize kitchen utensils, dishes, and equipment regularly.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation regulations faithfully.
  • Assist in receiving and storing kitchen supplies, monitoring inventory levels, and reporting shortages.
  • Properly label and store food to prevent spoilage.
  • Work closely with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Assist in setting up and closing kitchen stations.
  • Contribute to a positive kitchen environment by following instructions and supporting team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional culinary education or certification is preferred.

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a kitchen environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and cooking techniques.
  • Knowledge of ingredient storage and handling procedures.
  • Awareness of portion control and food presentation standards.
  • Understanding of workplace safety and hazard prevention.
  • Strong knife skills and basic food preparation techniques.
  • Ability to accurately follow recipes and cooking instructions.
  • Efficient multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Capability to lift and carry heavy kitchen supplies and equipment.

Physical Effort:

The role requires standing and walking for extended periods, often throughout the shift, with movement around the kitchen and service areas as needed. Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays is required according to the café's operational needs.
